Over the weekend, while visiting a Colorado football game in Boulder, Boston Celtics player Derrick White got into a violent brawl. White, who took home his first NBA title with the Boston Celtics in June, saw Colorado upset Colorado State 28–9. The point guard who competed for the University of Colorado basketball from 2015 to 2017 was there to see Deion Sanders' Colorado team playing the Colorado state team.

Tensions escalated during the second quarter, according to TMZ, as White got into a heated argument with several Colorado State supporters who were close. When a fan swung at Derrick White, striking him in the head and removing his cap, things rapidly got out of hand. This led to a brief altercation in which White attempted to strike back before other people intervened to break up the groups.

Despite the tense situation, White finally acted as a mediator by removing a Colorado supporter from the conflict and placing him in a peaceful sitting position. As police came to defuse the situation, he assisted the fan. There was no police report made, and the argument ended amicably. Before this occurred, Derrick White was having an amazing summer. Following his NBA championship-winning role with the Boston Celtics in June, he went on to capture a gold medal with Team USA in the August Olympics.Β

In the days ahead, White and Boston Celtics will make their way back to Boston as they prepare for the commencement of training camp and the 2024–25 NBA season, when they will defend their title. Fans of the Celtics and CU will be hopeful that White's perspective won't be affected by this regrettable occurrence as he gets ready for another successful basketball season, even if no official comment has been published from his camp.
