Following a fierce duel between WNBA guards Caitlin Clark and Dijonai Carrington on Wednesday in Indiana, the Fever rookie wonder emerged victorious, defeating the Connecticut Sun 84-80. In reaction to Carrington's silencer celebration late in the third quarter, Clark had a perfect answer that enthralled the home crowd.

The Sun guard silenced Indiana Fever supporters by putting her index finger over her lips after making a three-pointer with 3:50 remaining in the third period to cut their deficit to three points, 62-59. However, Clark quickly sprinted back to their side of the court, used a pump fake to get past Carrington's defence, and then made a two-point goal to increase their advantage to five points, 64-59, at the 3:41 mark of the game.

Caitlin Clark scored two of her 19 points in 38 minutes of play, collecting five rebounds and dishing five assists. Along with her three triples, she shattered the previous record of 85 set in 2022 by Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream, setting a new WNBA rookie record of 88 threes.

With 23 points apiece, Kelsey Mitchell led the way as the Fever defeated the opposition, improving their record to 15-16 and seventh in the rankings. Indiana's next away game is on Friday, and it will be against the Chicago Sky and Angel Reese. The Sun (22-8) lost, ending their 11-game winning run against the Fever, despite Carrington leading them with 19 points.

According to rookie guard Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, the squad has improved since the beginning of the season and it is evident in the outcomes.
