Angel Reese, a WNBA player, has revealed something startling regarding her pay. After attending the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York City on Tuesday, October 15, the professional women's basketball player posted on Instagram Live. The 22-year-old forward for the Chicago Sky stated during the Instagram live that she "wouldn't even be able to live" on her yearly basketball pay alone.

"I just hope you know the WNBA don't pay my bills at all," Angel Reese said, according to a clip reposted by plugged Soundz. "I don't even think pays one of my bills. Literally, I'm trying to think of my rent for where I stay at (in Chicago). I'm gonna do the math real quick."

Angel Reese agreed to a four-year, $324,383 contract with the Chicago Sky in 2024. An online sports finance system called Spotrac estimates that Reese will make $73,439 a year during the 2024 WNBA season. Like fellow WNBA player Caitlin Clark, Reese might make more than $1 million from sponsorship and brand partnerships.

After she inked a multi-year contract with Reebok last year, the basketball player developed her own line of merchandise known as "Angel's Picks." Reese has endorsement deals for an estimated $1.8 million with companies like Beats by Dre, Tampax, Airbnb, Amazon, Playstation, Bose, Raising Cane's, Sonic, and Mielle Organics in addition to the sportswear company, according to Spotrac.

WNBA earns an estimated $60 million from media rights

Other WNBA players have also expressed disapproval of Reese's rookie salary. The 22-year-old athlete signed a four-year contract worth $338,056 after the Indiana Fever selected him as the first pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. She made $76,535 this year in her first season and is expected to make $97,582 a year by the end of her four-year contract.

According to Front Office Sports, the WNBA presently earns an estimated $60 million a year from the sale of its media rights and licensing agreements with Amazon, CBS, and ION. In contrast, the average NBA club is valued at about $3.85 billion; according to Forbes, the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Lakers are all worth more than $6 billion.
