Jamal Murry's comeback helps Denver Nuggets to win against Atlanta Hawks

On Saturday night Jamal Murry comeback from injury helped Denver Nuggets to get win over Atlanta Hawks by 142-110. Coming out of strained right knee he missed seven games during this game he played for 21 minutes and scored 16 points and gave six assists. In the current 2023/24 NBA season, Murray has averaged 20.9 points and 6.7 rebounds.

He sat out the fourth quarter, as did Nikola Jokic, who still has 25 triple-doubles this season, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who scored a season-high 24 points. According to Atlanta Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, Murray's presence changed the game. In first six minutes of the first quarter of the game Atlanta Hawks have tough fight but later struggled to match the pace of Denver Nuggets.

As per AP News, “He’s a tremendous player. Him and Jokic are the best duo in the league and it’s tough to guard them,” Bogdanovic said. “When Nikola Jokic needs to find a guy to score, he’s got Murray and that’s basically it.”

Denver Nuggets went 23 for 41 from just three minutes, as by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's 6-for-9 performance from deep. Michael Porter Jr. got 4 for 8, while Reggie Jackson went 3 for 6, despite being unwell. Murray made two of his four 3-pointer range.

Atlanta Hawks in Play-in position

Reggie Jackson, who had started in Murray's place, returned to the bench and led Denver's second unit with 18 points despite an illness that had him hidden on the bench, leaving Malone astonished he even played. Jokic totalled 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists.

In the Eastern Conference Atlanta Hawks are just one game behind Chicago Bulls who hold the No.9 spot. Both the teams will play their next game on Tuesday night as Atlanta Hawks will play against Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets will play Utah Jazz. Meanwhile both Atlanta Hawks are in contention for Play-in position in Eastern Conference while Denver Nuggets is on top spot in Western Conference and has already in Playoffs.
