There is an opinion that overdosing on anger can cost dear for individuals. The best example of it in Basketball is Boban Jankovic. The Serbian star ended his career due to anger issues. In one of the matches between Panionios and Panathinaikos in a Greek League playoff game, Boban was unhappy with a decision from the referee and ended up head-butting the concrete pole.

The match had a great comeback from the Serbian and Co. After being 17 points down, they came closer to having a lead. By then, Boban had bagged himself a total of four fouls. He was one foul away from being banned from the rest of the game. Boban drove in for a layup and after getting an offensive foul call, Janković slammed his head against the base of the Basketball hoop.

For Boban, it was not the first time. He was known for his anger. In many instances, he had done the same thing when being wronged by a referee. In the Greek playoff match, he hit the concrete with full force. It ensured that Boban was not just ruled out of the game but changed his life forever. As Boban started to bleed, he was taken out of the court on a stretcher.

Sad end to Boban Jankovic's career and life

He reportedly damaged his spinal cord and was paralyzed from the neck down. Jankovic made a wheelchair his partner for the rest of his life. Later in 1993, he returned to Panionios as a spectator. The fans welcomed him with thunderous applause. However, it was a bit too late, as he was in no condition to play. In 2006, he passed away in Greece at the age of 42.

Jankovix's jersey number 8 was retired by his team. For the rest of his life, he suffered many problems like weight gain and immobility. Everything could have been different for Boban if he had better control over his anger. It is being said that he regretted his decision every day for the rest if his life till he died.
