NBA great and NASCAR team co-owner Michael Jordan was compelled to address a false allegation that he had backed Donald Trump for president after the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Following the election, the untrue claim gained traction, leading Jordan's officials to publicly deny it.
Michael Jordan engaged in a legal dispute with NASCAR
Since he and driver Denny Hamlin co-founded 23XI Racing, a NASCAR Cup Series team, Michael Jordan has emerged as a major player in the NASCAR community. When 23XI made its debut in the 2021 Cup Series season, Bubba Wallace, an African American driver, became the first driver for the team. Jordan made news when he expressed interest in giving Wallace opportunities. As a nod to Jordan's famous NBA jersey number, Wallace drives the No. 23 vehicle.
While staying cautiously away from political endorsements, Jordan continues to use these endeavors to mold his power in both basketball and racing. For many political groups, it appears that Michael's political career will remain a pipe dream. In addition to its racing achievements, 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports are also engaged in a legal dispute with NASCAR. Alleging that NASCAR functions as a monopoly, the teams have sued the racing organization.
