South Carolina star Ashlyn Watkins arrested for assault and kidnapping suspicion

Basketball: Ashlyn Watkins, female basketball player for the South Carolina Gamecocks was taken into custody on Saturday on suspicion of abduction and assault.

Ashlyn Watkins, female basketball player for the South Carolina Gamecocks was taken into custody on Saturday on suspicion of abduction and assault. The incident that took place at a University of South Carolina student housing complex, Ashlyn Watkins was under arrest. According to WLTX-TV, Watkins, who earlier this year won a national title with the Gamecocks, was charged with, "forcefully grabbing [the victim] her face, pulling her arms, and pushing."

According to the USC Police warrant, the forward also carried the victim against her consent. Furthermore, Watkins 'grabbed the victim's head and forced her to proceed down the corridor, controlling her movement and preventing her from fleeing,' the statement continued. The additional accusation of abduction continued through this claim.

According to the warrant issued, the victim managed to get away and set off a fire alarm. After being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the victim was taken to the site by local police and fire personnel. After being arrested, Watkins was given a $30,000 personal recognizance bail and told not to speak to the victim directly or indirectly.

Ashlyn Watkins' next hearing is on 25th October

The date of her upcoming court appearance is October 25. Watkins will be allowed to travel with the team for practices and games held outside of the state in the meantime. To complete their perfect season, Watkins and South Carolina defeated Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes 87-75 in March to win the NCAA National Championship. In the victory, Watkins contributed 3 points, 1 assist, and 5 rebounds in 14 minutes of play.

Watkins, a junior, will start her third season with the Gamecocks after finishing the previous campaign with averages of 9.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest. On November 10, the squad plays its first game against North Carolina State.
