In a recent episode of 'The Skip Bayless Show', sports journalist Skip Bayless offered a stark assessment of Angel Reese's chances in the WNBA Rookie of the Year (ROTY) race. He bluntly downplays her bid and suggests that Reese has fallen behind fellow rookie Caitlin Clark.

Bayless, known for his candid and sometimes controversial opinions, did not hold back in critiquing Reese’s offensive struggles. He believes that has significantly diminished her impact this season. "The truth is, Angel is a poor shooter with the basketball," Bayless stated.

He highlighted Reese’s disappointing shooting percentages, noting that she is currently hitting just 38% of her shots from the field, a figure that ranks her 51st out of 56 qualified players. Her three-point shooting has been even more concerning, with a mere 17% conversion rate, making her offensive contributions less impactful.

Reese's struggles trouble Chicago Sky!

Reese's struggles on offence have been compounded by the Chicago Sky's recent downturn in form. The team has stumbled to an 11-22 record, losing seven straight games and eight of their last nine since the Olympic break.

Bayless pointed out that this poor run of form has further diminished Reese's standing in the ROTY race, especially when compared to Clark, who has been putting up impressive numbers for the Indiana Fever. Clark is averaging 18.9 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game, leading her team to a playoff-bound 18-16 record.

Despite Angel Reese’s dominant rebounding performance—she leads the league with 13.2 rebounds per game—Bayless argued that her inability to score efficiently has overshadowed her other contributions. "She hasn't been having nearly the impact that Caitlin Clark is having on her team," Bayless remarked, underscoring how crucial scoring is in determining a player’s overall impact.

While Bayless acknowledged Reese’s rebounding prowess, he emphasized that the ROTY race is not solely about one aspect of the game. With Clark excelling in multiple facets—scoring, playmaking, and leading her team to a winning record—Reese’s ROTY bid seems to be slipping away, at least in Bayless’s eyes.
