Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scores 26 points and helps Oklahoma City Thunder to defeat San Antonio Spurs

On Wednesday night Oklahoma City Thunder defeated San Antonio Spurs by 127-89 as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 26 points in just 26 minutes. His teammate Gordan Hayward scored 18 points and Josh Giddey got 20 points, seven assists, and 12 rebounds as Oklahoma City Thunder won their third consecutive game.

While for San Antonio Spurs Zach Collins scored 20 points and seven rebounds. But Victor Wembanyama, one of the league's emerging rookie stars, was sidelined due to a right ankle injury. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich claimed he was resting Wembanyama because it was the second game of a back-to-back and he wanted to ensure his star's long-term health. Popovich stated before the game that the 20-year-old Wembanyama was unhappy about being made to sit out.

Devin Vassell was out with a foot injury; Keldon Johnson had a sprained left foot; and Jeremy Sochan was out with a left ankle injury all missed the game for the San Antonio Spurs. With three games remaining, the Thunder were only one game behind the Minnesota Timberwolves for the best Western Conference record.

Oklahoma City Thunder's scored lowest point total in a half of the season

With just three minutes into the game, San Antonio Spurs missed the first seven shots as Oklahoma City Thunder took the lead 11-0. As the first quarter ended Oklahoma City Thunder were in the lead by 34-11. It was the fewest points Oklahoma City had allowed in any quarter this season.

At halftime, Oklahoma City led 68-35. The Thunder limited San Antonio to 28.6% shooting before the break and scored 22 points off the Spurs' 10 turnovers. Gilgeous-Alexander and Giddey each had 18 points in the first half. It was the Thunder's lowest point total in a half of the season.

The next game for both teams San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder will be on Friday. As Oklahoma City will play against Milwaukee Bucks and San Antonio Spurs will play against Denver Nuggets.
