Connecticut Sun suffered their second consecutive loss to a Western Conference opponent on Sunday, dropping 72-61 to the Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena, just two days after their first double-digit setback to the Las Vegas Aces on Friday.

Despite another double-double from phenom Alyssa Thomas (14 points, 14 rebounds), the Sun fell to 13-3 and are currently second in the East behind the 14-3 New York Liberty. The club started the season with nine straight wins but has lost three of its past seven games.

Following one of her least productive games of the season in the loss to the Aces, Alyssa Thomas was in control from the outset. The 2023 MVP runner-up bounced back fast, leading Connecticut to eight points, six rebounds, and three steals in the opening frame while shooting 66.7% from the field

Brionna Jones also helped the Sun's early paint dominance, scoring six points in seven minutes in the first quarter, while the Connecticut Sun defence allowed no more than two points to any Seattle player.

Seattle Storm took lead in the game

In the last five minutes before halftime, Seattle Storm embarked on a 17-3 run to grab a 34-31 lead. Connecticut had led by as many as 11 points early in the second quarter. Throughout the entire Storm run, the Sun was unable to muster a field goal, with Tyasha Harris scoring all three of their points from the free throw line.

Connecticut (13-4) has dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season, falling to the Las Vegas Aces on Friday after a four-game winning run and a stretch of 13 victories in 14 games. Seattle (10-6) suffered its second straight setback on Wednesday, falling 94-83 in Las Vegas after winning eight of nine games.

The Storm began a nine-game homestand after playing five of six and seven of nine on the road. The Sun's Alyssa Thomas had 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Brionna Jones added 14 points. Tyasha Harris added ten points.
