Las Vegas Aces beat Seattle Storm as Chelsea Gray returns back to the court

Basketball: On Wednesday Las Vegas Aces defeated Seattle Storm 94-83 as Chelsea Gray was back on court. For 12 games Chelsea Gray was not available due to a foot injury.

On Wednesday Las Vegas Aces defeated Seattle Storm 94-83 as Chelsea Gray was back on court. For 12 games Chelsea Gray was not available due to a foot injury. Another teammate, Jackie Young scored 32 points and A’ja Wilson got 27 points as they won the game. 

According to AP News, Chelsea Gray stated, “Man I missed this game so much. Never take it for granted.” “It’s a long journey, lots of crying, lots of sleepless nights, a lot of conversations. I’m so thankful to be back on this court.”

While her teammate Kelsey Plum scored 11 points and coming off the bench Alysha Clark and Tiffany scored 10 points each. Young missed her career best by two points, while Wilson had 16 in the fourth quarter, giving her 20 consecutive games with at least 20 points. Las Vegas Aces shot 56% (35 of 63) during the game and had 25 assists on those 35 baskets.

For the Storm, Nneka Ogwumike scored 21 points (9–6). Jordan Horston contributed 18 points, Skylar Diggins-Smith scored 10, and Ezi Magbegor had 19 points and 13 rebounds. Jewell Loyd, who came in averaging just under 20 points per game and led the league in scoring last season with almost 24 points per game, missed nine shots and was restricted to just one score, breaking a run of 55 games in double digits. On August 7, 2022, Loyd scored one point in a defeat against Las Vegas.

Chelsea Gray gets a standing ovation

With 1:41 remaining in the first quarter, Grey was greeted with a standing ovation upon her arrival. Just 20 seconds later, she assisted Clark on her 1,500th career basket, bringing the score to 26–13. Grey, a five-time All-Star and 2020 Olympic gold medalist who will compete in Paris next month, finished with seven assists, four rebounds, two blocks, and one point in 15:30 minutes. Grey missed the opening eleven games of the season, as well as the championship game last year, when Las Vegas defeated New Liberty for their second consecutive title.
