In the third game of the Eastern Conference first-round playoff series Philadelphia 76ers won against New York Knicks, as Joel Embiid scored 50 points, making all four of his 3-point tries and scoring 18 in what might be a game-changing third quarter on Thursday night. The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the New York Knicks 125-114 and cut the gap in series 2-1.

With one of his best postseason performances, Joel Embiid became the third player in history to score 50 points against the Knicks in the playoffs, keeping the hopes of a Philadelphia series comeback alive. Embiid shot 13 of 19 from the field, converted 19 of 21 free throws, and nailed five three-pointers.

Embiid, last season's NBA MVP, ultimately changed the crowd, which had a definite New York flavor in South Philly, into one that was rooting for the local side. In the third quarter, the All-Star center played more like a shooting guard, saving the season.

When Embiid went hot, the Sixers cut the deficit to three points at halftime. He made one three-pointer and then two more, the latter two with Tyrese Maxey's assists, to give the Sixers an 82-72 advantage. His fourth three increased the margin to 98-85. Maxey added two threes in the quarter, and the 76ers shot 9 of 12 from beyond the arc, totaling 43 points.

New Knicks got a good start in game

The Knicks won the first two games in New York, including Donte DiVincenzo's game-winning 3-pointer with 13 seconds left in Game 2. Against the background of two Villanova national championship banners that they helped the program win, the trio of former Wildcats were virtually stymied in Game 3.

The Knicks' leading scorer with 39 points and 13 assists was Jalen Brunson. Josh Hart scored 20 points, but DiVincenzo only managed five. Josh Hart's incredible 3-point shooting in New York was an unanticipated benefit for the Knicks. Maxey scored 25 points in the end. After Game 2, Kelly Oubre Jr., who had reportedly been involved in an automobile accident, scored 15 points and appeared to be healthy. On Sunday, in Philadelphia Game 4 will take place between both the team.
