According to reports, Pascal Siakam and the Indiana Pacers have reached an agreement on a four-year contract that may be worth up to $189.5 million. Siakam, who they acquired in January from the Toronto Raptors, was a major factor in their ability to get to the Eastern Conference finals.

According to the provisions of the new collective bargaining agreement, a player who will either be a free agency or eligible for a contract extension in July may negotiate with the team he played for throughout the season on the day following the NBA Finals. Players are not allowed to negotiate with other clubs until June 30 at 6 p.m. ET, and contracts cannot be finalised until the moratorium ends on July 6 at 12:01 p.m. ET.

In other words, Pascal Siakam may end his free agency before it officially begins. He may now sign a new contract with the Pacers twelve days before he can explore potential offers with outside parties. According to reports, Siakam was pleased with his new situation and expected to re-sign, but he never wanted to leave the team that selected him.

However, Siakam's free agency occurred some months ago. He talked about his future in Los Angeles with club president Masai Ujiri at the end of his time in Toronto. The whole league was aware that Siakam would be free to sign an offseason contract costing up to $42.3 million, that the Raptors would not be comfortable carrying that much money on their roster, and that any team looking to acquire him would have to be willing to do the same.

Siakam averaged 21.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 31.8 minutes per game for Indiana Pacers during the regular season, with a true shooting percentage of 60.2% and a usage rate of 25.2%. Siakam expressed his gratitude and happiness at having discovered a place where he may feel entirely supported, needed, and significant. "That's really all a player could hope for."

During his end-of-season news conference, Siakam, who was a part of two All-Star teams and two All-NBA teams when playing for Toronto, raved about his first few months in Indianapolis.
