Mike Budenholzer in race for Brooklyn Nets coach position

According to Shams Charania Former NBA champion coach Mike Budenholzer is one of the contenders for the coaching position at Brooklyn Net. They are also keeping an eye on Jordi Fernandez Jordi Fernandez and Kevin Young.

According to Shams Charania, Former NBA champion coach Mike Budenholzer is one of the contenders for a coaching position at Brooklyn Net. They are also keeping an eye on Jordi Fernandez, who is the associate head coach, and Jordi Fernandez and Kevin Young, who are Phoenix Suns' associate head coaches.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai is going to be held in person with all three coaches before making his decision final. In this current season, the Brooklyn Nets got a good start until mid-December. However, by the next six weeks, they won only 4 games and lost 17 and missed out on a Play-in spot. This resulted in the Brooklyn Nets firing Jacque Vaughn as he was hired in less than two full seasons in charge

Earlier in the 2022/23 NBA season, Jacque Vaughn was promoted to the head coach position as Steve Nash was sacked. During his stint with the Brooklyn Nets, Jacque Vaughn was in charge for 129 games as he won 64 games and lost 65 games was also exited in the first round of last season's playoffs.

Mike Budenholzer's record as coach

Following Vaughn's removal, the Brooklyn Nets selected Kevin Ollie as temporary head coach, although while he was initially considered for the full-time position, the organisation chose to take a different approach. 

Milwaukee Bucks fired Mike Budenholzer last season after facing defeat in a first-round playoff series against the Miami Heat. Milwaukee made the playoffs in all five of his seasons, and he finished with a 391-271 regular-season record and the 2021 NBA championship. Before joining Milwaukee Bucks Mike Budenholzer was at Atlanta Hawks for five years. During his time with the Atlanta Hawks, he took the team in four playoffs. With 10 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks, Mike Budenholzer has a good record in the regular season and he has 60.4 % of winning games.
