Luka Doncic's candid response after heartbreak in NBA finals against Boston Celtics

It was heartbreaking for Luka Doncic who led his team to finals with an outstanding performance only to flatter at the biggest stage. Despite being one of the biggest hands behind the Dallas Mavericks’ success throughout the tournament Doncic failed to help his team avoid a 4-1 defeat in the NBA finals.

In the fifth game of the series Boston Celtics defeated Dallas Mavericks by 106-88 to clinch the NBA trophy for season 2023-24. However, after the defeat, Doncic was seen as devasted as he failed to perform in the crunch situation.

Speaking to the media Doncic accepted that his team lost but they had a great season. He also thanked other players for stepping up on various occasions. He said, “I’m proud of every guy to step on the floor… We didn’t win the Finals. But we did have a hell of a season.” 

How good was Dallas Mavericks in NBA 2024?

In the recently concluded NBA finals, the Dallas Mavericks emerged as a poor team but had a great run till the playoffs. They went on to win 50 matches in the regular season and dominated the NBA playoffs to win the Western Conference Championship. 

This all makes it more important after the team failed to perform in the NBA season 2022-23. The duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving dominated the season especially the second half when the Mavericks went on to win 15 out of the last 19 games in the regular season.

However, all these numbers and performances didn’t matter as the team failed to continue their golden run in the NBA finals. Notably, in the five-game series only Doncic performed by averaging 29.2 points as well as 8.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
