LeBron James to be USA's flagbearer at opening ceremony of Paris Olympics 2024

LeBron James will be the USA's flagbearer at the Paris Olympics 2024. The star player felt honoured to represent the United States in an event that could bring the entire nation together. Likewise, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dennis Schroder will be the flagbearers of Greece and Germany respectively in the opening ceremony on the 26th of July.

After the announcement, LeBron James looked back at his youth days. He felt the responsibility meant everything to him and the family. The 39-year-old claimed that a lot of Olympians inspired him to be the person he is today. The all-time highest scorer of the NBA felt the Sport had the ability to bring people together and felt proud to be a part of the important moment.

"For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means everything to not only myself but to my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, fellow Olympians and so many people across the country with big aspirations. Sports have the power to bring us all together, and I'm proud to be a part of this important moment," said James in the press conference.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dennis Schroder will also be flagbearers

James won the gold medal for the USA in 2008 and 2012. He is not the only player to be honored with the responsibility of being the flagbearer of their country. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dennis Schroder will also represent their country in the opening ceremony. The duo will hold the flags of Greece and Germany respectively in the event.

Giannis has been one of the best players in the league in the last few years. The star player has won the Most Valuable Player in the NBA in two instances. His performances were impactful for the Milwaukee Bucks. Dennis will be proudly carrying the flag of Germany. For the first time in history, Seine River will be hosting the opening ceremony, unlike the traditional stadium setting.
