Brittney Griner spoke about her return to the USA Basketball team ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024. The star player claimed that it meant everything to her. Griner claimed that the honour of wearing the national jersey and potentially winning the gold was like the icing on the cake. Brittney was a bit emotional as she looked back at her roller coaster of a career.

"It means everything to me honestly. For me to now have the honour to wear it again and potentially win gold is icing on the cake for everything," said Brittney Griner at the conference. The star player was imprisoned in Russia for a potential doping test. She was allegedly being used as a pawn in the war between Ukraine and Russia.

As her stand on the 'Black Lives Matter' went controversial, the USA star addressed the issue. She felt that singing the national anthem hit differently while playing in an event like the Olympics. "It’s like when you go for the Olympics, you’re sitting there, about to get gold put on your neck, the flags are going up, and the anthem is playing, it just hits different," added Griner in her statement.

Brittney Griner disappointed over being termed 'Un-American'

Some of the critics had claimed that the 31-year-old was un-American. The WNBA star gave back to them by speaking about her family. The 2-time gold medalist claimed that her father was a war hero from the 1968-69 war against Vietnam. Grinner claimed that she always wanted to be a cop and never wanted to play Basketball.

The experienced player expressed her disappointment over being called un-American as she felt for her rights. The star player was happy to be back with the USA team and felt at home. She claimed the security and comfort while playing for the country was totally different. Recently, she was blessed with a son with her partner Cherelle. It might be a time for celebration for the star player.
