Questions have been raised over the legacy of Kevin Durant outside the Golden State Warriors. After his side lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA Playoffs, the performance of the former Warriors player has come under scrutiny. Smith took to 'First Take' on Monday and analyzed the career graph of Durant. He then took back the fans down memory lane.

Smith claimed that he had warned Durant and his fans about the potential downfall of the star player. While Smith claimed himself to be a fan of Kevin, he added that joining Kyrie Irving by leaving Stephen Curry was not the wisest move. Smith praised Kevin for all his achievements in the Warriors. He was with one of the most popular NBA teams in the world till 2019.

In that period, Kevin won the NBA Finals MVP award twice and became a first-ballot Hall of Famer. After the Warriors lost the 2018/19 season, Kevin moved away from the Warriors. Since then, Durant has not been able to win any major titles. Smith pointed out that Kevin moved from Brooklyn Nets to Phoenix and claimed that it was not worth it.

'He's not going to get the sympathy from the basketball Gods' - Smith

He believed that the offensive player self-inflicted a situation where could be remembered more for his failures than as a title winner with the likes of Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. "The situation was self-inflicted, and that -- especially when you go out like this -- is going to be as, if not more, remembered than the titles that you won with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson," said Smith.

He further added that it is neither a good nor a bad thing but felt that a lot of fans and supporters were upset with his decision to move away from Thompson and Curry. Smith added that the Basketball gods will not have any sympathy for Kevin. "He's not going to get the sympathy from the basketball Gods. He's just not," stated Smith after Durant and his side lost against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
