This season, the Los Angeles Lakers will create NBA history when LeBron James and Bronny James take the floor together. They will be the first father-son tandem to play in the NBA simultaneously, maybe as teammates. During Lakers media day, star center Anthony Davis of the Lakers talked about his impressions of seeing the two James play side by side, calling it a bizarre experience.
"It's still surreal that he's on the same team as his dad. And I get to be part of it, witnessing every practice, every game, every moment they share, at least for his first year," Anthony Davis said. "I can't wait for them to make history when they officially step on the floor together. It's been amazing to watch so far."
The Lakers are investing in Bronny James as a developmental prospect despite the criticism leveled at LeBron and the Lakers for bringing him into the system following a lackluster collegiate freshman season in which he averaged just 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 36.3% shooting and 26.7% from three. The Lakers, who were selected 55th out of 58 choices, haven't given up a lot of valuable assets to do this.
JJ Redick hiring will help the team
The players' feelings about playing with both LeBron James and Bronny are what count. Although the Summer League club expressed some disapproval of the media attention around Bronny, the majority of the starting lineup welcomed him and his extraordinary tale. Because of the possible basketball benefits and the possibility for publicity when LeBron plays alongside his kid, the Lakers are thrilled to have Bronny join the team.
They may have a defensive guard in Bronny if he develops well, and LeBron would be more driven than before. The Lakers made an important hire in JJ Redick, hoping that his innovative flair will help the team both now and down the road. LeBron was all about bringing his former podcast co-host back on board.
