Following their 110-109 victory over the Dallas Wings on Sunday, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are in great spirits. In addition to helping the Fever secure the sixth seed in the playoffs, Clark also created WNBA history. In Friday night's Fever defeat to the Las Vegas Aces, Clark surpassed the single-season record for assists as well as the single-season mark for rookie scoring against the Wings. Her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, is there to support Clark as her name is entered into the league's history books.

Last year, Conner McCaffery, whose father, Fran McCaffery, is the head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team, signed on as a scout for the Indiana Pacers. After the Pacers' summer campaign ended, the 26-year-old started going to Clark's home games daily and established himself as his girlfriend's biggest supporter.

On September 16, though, Caitlin Clark was supporting McCaffery since he was officially departing the Pacers to take a new position. McCaffery, who is taking over as the Bulldogs' associate head coach, looks to be carrying on his father's coaching legacy. He will collaborate with Butler's men's basketball head coach Thad Matta.

Caitlin Clark and Conner McCaffery celebrated their first anniversary last April

Caitlin Clark, who celebrated her first anniversary with McCaffery in April of last year, now has a new job that allows her to have her boyfriend close at hand. The Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the home court of the Indiana Fever, is within a fifteen-minute drive away from Butler University.

McCaffery views his new position as a real family business. His younger brother, Patrick McCaffery, moved from Iowa to join the Bulldogs for his sixth and final season. Jack McCaffery, their younger brother, has verbally committed to play at Butler University the next season as he prepares to start his senior year of high school.

The Fever is now in a position to contend for a WNBA championship for the first time in many years thanks to Clark. Due in large part to their rookie's performance, Indiana is making its first trip back to the postseason since 2016. Clark's WNBA season averages for 2024 are 19.5 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game.
