Bam Adebayo, one of the NBA's finest defensive players and a two-time U.S. Olympian, plans to sign a three-year, $166 million deal with the Miami Heat when the league's summer embargo on such transactions is lifted next month, according to sources.

As per reports, the condition of anonymity was because neither Bam Adebayo nor the club had made the decision public. According to league rules, Adebayo may sign the agreement on July 6. Miami Heat's captain and starting centre has two years and around $72 million remaining on his current contract with the Heat, the only team he has played for since being chosen in 2017.

Adebayo, 26, is coming off his second consecutive All-Star season and third of his career. He's a seven-year veteran who has spent his whole career in Miami, and he's become a cornerstone for a team that has reached the NBA Finals twice in the previous five years.

Adebayo, a member of the USA Olympic team that won gold at the Tokyo Games three years ago, is now part of the team that will compete at the Paris Games, which begin next month. According to reports, the maximum agreement is $166 million. Adebayo will sign the deal with two years remaining on his five-year, $163 million contract. The contract maintains Adebayo under Heat ownership until the 2028-29 season, his 12th in the NBA.
