Ferrari’s Singapore Grand Prix qualifying has turned disastrous as both its drivers failed to put any lap time in the final qualifying session. McLaren’s Lando Norris, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, and Mercedes Lewis Hamilton took the pole positions.

Carlos Sainz crashed at the final corner when lining up for the hot lap cost Charles Leclerc to lose his lap time as qualifying won't be considered under Red Flags. With just 8 minutes to go, sainz crashed onto the wall after he lost his rear end due to cold tires and zero grip.

After the crash, each driver was given one lap to set their qualifying times. But Charles Leclerc’s lap time was deleted after he exceeded the track limits at turn 2. Both the Ferrari drivers finished their qualifying in P9 and P10.

'Lack of temperature costed us'

Post-qualifying Charles Leclerc spoke about his car's underperformance at the Singapore GP. He pointed out that the Lack of tyre temperature cost them their qualifying session. He said “When we get out of the garage with front tyres that are too cold, then you arrive in the first corner and you lock up, so I don't know what's gone on.

I don't have the answer yet, the team doesn't have the answer yet, but we need to look into it because we paid the price today.” Charles Leclerc also feels this might not be the concern in the race. But starting from the ninth and tenth position for the race that too on a tight and narrow Marina Bay street track will be very difficult for Ferrari.

To get a decent result at the Singapore GP Ferrari needs to make significant changes to their strategy for the race. But history shows Ferrari often fails to deliver at the most critical moments. During the Vettel era Ferrari though having the fastest car failed to do the right strategy and lost races to Mercedes.
