WATCH: Throwback to Marc Marquez's thrilling final lap championship victory at the 2019 Thailand GP

Marc Marquez and Fabio Quartararo battled hard to win the 2019 Thailand MotoGP, a Japanese battle between Honda and Yamaha.

The 2019 Thailand Grand Prix was special for Marc Marquez as the MotoGP legend won his sixth world championship that year. It was also his fourth world championship in a row. Marc Marquez was already way ahead of his competitors in championship points and was winning every race.

Emerging star Fabio Quartararo of the Petronas Yamaha team was amazing in his debut season after coming from Moto2. He was the Rookie of the Year with 7 podiums and 5th place in the championship standings. The French man was the fastest in qualifying and he started in Pole position followed by Maverick Vinales of Monster Energy Yamaha and Marc Marquez of the Repsol Honda team. He was going against the two factory riders.

Thrilling 6th world title win at Thailand GP

He had a great start and was leading the race until the last two laps when he saw Marc Marquez charging behind him. The Spaniard Overtook Maverick Vinales and was in full attack mode against Quartararo to seal his sixth world title. In the penultimate lap, Marquez forced Quartararo to make mistakes by constantly attacking him in the corners. He got his chance in the final lap of the race and he passed Fabio Quartararo in the big straight of the first sector.

In the final corner, Fabio passed Marquez with a huge dive bomb and went a little wider, Marc Marquez kept his calm found the gap passed Fabio within a few millimetres distance and won the 2019 MotoGP world championship title. In the end, Marquez was seen celebrating his win and 6th world title while Fabio Quartararo was full of agony as he was beaten by the Spaniard.

This year's Thailand GP will see Marc Marquez racing in different colours for the Gresini Racing Team with a GP 23 Ducati bike. Marquez already got 4 wins this season and he will be looking to end his season on a high before moving to the Ducati factory racing team next year.
