WATCH: Throwback to F1 driver Oscar Piastri facing Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon in a cricket game

Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri is the one Australian driver who can become world champion in the future. But apart from Formula 1 racing, he has a great interest in cricket, no surprise for an Aussie. Last year, during the Ashes game, the McLaren driver was spotted with Aussie cricketers Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Stark, David Warner and Ricky Ponting. He also faced some balls from Lyon and Stark in the nets.

The Aussie race driver instead of suiting, padded up with gloves and pads and faced the world’s top most bowlers in cricket. Oscar opened with a good solid defence against Nathan Lyon and Starc who bowled with some natural variations. Though he didn't face any wrath from the bowlers who bowled causally, Oscar's technique was quite good for a batter.

The Australian driver was a huge cricket fan and he was seen many times playing the game. Even in his racing team, McLaren he played a Traditional England vs Australia cricket match against his teammate Lando Norris.

Norrism though being an English man, couldn't match up with the Oscar-led Aussie team and they lost the match with Piastri being the top scorer in the game. Not only Australian team, Oscar Piastri is also interested in watching IPL matches during his free time. Each year he supports a team with some good Australian players. Last year, he asked which team he should support and many replied Delhi Capitals. He was also sent a Delhi Capitals jersey by then-head coach Ricky Ponting.

This year, he backed Aussie captain Pat Cummins-led Sun Risers Hyderabad, which lost the finals but had a big impact on the tournament and T20 cricket with their blasting batting. When Formula 1 drivers were asked to line up their top 5 Team sports, many drivers placed cricket in the last spot but Piastri picked cricket as the world's no 1 team sport which shows his love for the game.
