Racing is always the most dangerous sport in the world as the drivers know the possibility of losing their lives even before they go for the contest. But they do because of the enormous passion and happiness the sport gives to them.
Over the last three decades, safety has been improved ten times higher than the days before in the 70s and the 80s. Modern Racing cars come with the absolute best safety equipment that saves drivers from getting heavy injuries or losing their lives.
Formula 1 is the Pinnacle of Motorsport and also the leader of modern safety systems in racing. Death in Formula 1 hasn't happened since the inclusion of the Halo device in 2018 which has protected countless lives in the last 7 years. Many Formula 1 drivers and team principals who called the ‘Halo’ a joke and ugly were saved by the same equipment. Romain Grosjean will be thanking the Halo for his entire eternity for saving his life in Bahrain.

But What if a driver crashes into the barriers and goes unconscious or gets injured heavily so that he can't even get out of the car? FIA the head of all car racing has found a new way to save the driver's life during these kinds of unthinkable moments.
Like aeroplane pilots, Formula 1 drivers also call their cabin the cockpit. Both are dealing with High G force and speed so they have the right to call that way. There is a new technique called ‘Cockpit Extraction’ where the unconscious or injured driver is taken out of the car along with the entire cockpit.

Formula 1 drivers strap themselves with their car seats and there will be some hidden straps that connect the seat with the car. When a driver is unable to get out of the car the rescue team will unstrap the seat from the car, lift the entire cockpit out of the car and proceed with their medical procedure.
This new technique is a life changer and is used in many racing series. FIA should be credited for improving driver safety in car racing year by year and every race driver should be thankful to them. The last death happened in Formula 1 was in 2014 when Jules Bianchi crashed his car into a recovery vehicle. If there was a 'Halo' then, Jules would have lived and we wouldn't have lost a great talent.
