In a moving tribute to the late Ayrton Senna, four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel organized a powerful homage to the Brazilian racing icon at the Interlagos circuit ahead of the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix. As part of a commemorative project marking the 30th anniversary of Senna’s tragic passing, Vettel presented a colossal replica of Senna's crash helmet to the audience.

The sculpture, crafted from reclaimed and recycled materials, captured the spirit and influence of the legendary three-time champion. The tribute brought together F1 drivers for a heartfelt reflection on Senna’s legacy. Standing beside the vibrant helmet replica, the drivers joined Vettel in celebrating Senna’s life and achievements.

This event at Interlagos follows another commemoration at Imola earlier this year during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the very track where Senna lost his life in 1994. "Senna Sempre," or "Senna Always," as the tribute was called, underscores the enduring connection the Formula 1 community has with Senna, a driver who inspired generations both on and off the track.

Reflecting on Senna's influence, Sebastian Vettel, who has long admired Senna, spearheaded this project to honour the driver’s memory and underscore environmental consciousness—a cause close to Vettel's heart. Speaking at the event, Vettel shared how creating the helmet out of recycled materials pays homage to Senna’s values and symbolizes the shift toward sustainable practices, a mission Vettel actively champions.

Adding to the weekend’s tribute, seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton will have a unique role in remembering Senna. Hamilton is set to drive Senna’s iconic McLaren MP4/5B—the car with which Senna secured his 1990 World Championship title—around the Interlagos track. Set to take place after Saturday’s qualifying and sprint session, this special lap will be a powerful moment, combining Hamilton’s deep admiration for Senna with the symbolic presence of Senna’s car.
