Alpine F1 driver Pierre Gasly did a wonderful job at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix FP2 session, as Gasly set the third fastest lap time behind the two McLarens. The French Driver is one of the most consistent drivers on the grid, like George Russell, Max Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri. But unfortunately, his driving didn’t help him at the Imola circuit as he ran over a poor rabbit that tried to cross the road.

The incident happened during the Free Practice 1 session, and Gasly was the lead driver of his team. Gasly was pushing hard on the straights of turns 10 and 11, and just before the Variante Alta chicane, a small rabbit crossed the road. Gasly couldn't stop his car on time as he was at the straights and ran over the poor animal. The Alpine driver was immediately shocked and felt sad for the animal. He immediately called out his mechanics on the radio and informed them about the incident.

He said, “Oh my god! I touched an animal. An animal went under my board.” The Alpine crew called for an immediate pit stop as they wanted to check the underside of the car. In Formula 1, there have been many incidents recorded where animals enter the track and get hit by cars. But mostly birds will be the victims as they sit on the trackside and can't fly as fast as the F1 cars. The Poor rabbit would have died because of the collision, as Formula 1 cars' boards are very low and there is no chance of an escape.

Pierre Gasly is now racing at the Imola circuit with a new teammate, Franco Colapinto. The Argentine driver will take over from the Australian Jack Doohan, who failed to perform well and score points in the first six races. The Alpine garage says Colapinto has 5 races to prove himself, but he could get his contract extended till the end of this year. With Colapinto on the seat, they will get more sponsors than Doohan.
