WATCH: Mercedes boss Toto Wolff’s one final message to Kimi Antonelli ahead of Imola GP

Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff won't be available for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix as he is flying to Los Angeles for personal reasons. After many years, Mercedes will compete without Wolff's leadership, and the two drivers have to take care of themselves.

Kimi Antonelli will have the biggest day of his life racing for Mercedes at his hometown in Emilia-Romagna. He is under more pressure, especially since the Italian media will be chasing him all throughout the weekend. Before the race weekend, the Mercedes team had a meeting between the drivers and their boss, Toto Wolff, through a video call. The Austrian was very pinpoint in his advice and wanted Kimi Antonelli to listen to him more than Russell.

Wolff said, “‘I am flying to Los Angeles tonight, and it’s the first time that I am properly disconnected from a race with no intercom panel, and I felt it was an important one for both of you, but especially Kimi. There will be so much pressure on you with the Italian media; friends and family might be totally unconscious also.”

Toto advised Kimi to push all that unwanted pressure away from him and go with his mind. In between this, George Russell interrupts and asks for his advice. Wolff denies it and says he is the 27-year-old senior driver of the team and has more experience than an 18-year-old driver who is under more pressure driving in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. 

The Austrian also said he will be monitoring the race through live timings and connected with his subordinates, Bradley and Shove, through WhatsApp. He wished his drivers good luck and said he wouldn't disturb them on the ears this weekend, and the meeting ended. His team boss's advice would definitely lift Kimi’s spirits, and we expect him to perform well this weekend. He would have spent a lot of time driving at the Imola Formula 1 circuit, and we also wish the two drivers finish on the podium this weekend.
