WATCH: Mercedes driver George Russell times travels and gets Lewis's signature back

George Russell got a signature from Lewis Hamilton by time travelling with the same book. The Abu Dhabi Grand prix is a very emotional rollercoaster for Hamilton and Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton is one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history. He is a 7-time world champion and also the most Grand Prix race winner. Many young kids took up karting and racing after watching Lewis Hamilton. One of those kids was current Mercedes driver George Russell.

Before coming to Formula 1, Russell was a big fan of Lewis Hamilton. George considers Lewis his racing idol, and both are from Britain. There was an incident during George Russell's childhood when he went to see a Formula 1 race and Lewis Hamilton was driving for McLaren.

Lewis had the best-ever rookie season in 2007 as he went on to challenge the Formula 1 title against Reigning champion and his teammate Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari. He missed the first title by a whisker and the next year he clinched his world title in Brazil.

All these years Lewis didn't know that a young kid in Britain was watching him and one day the kid would become his teammate. Russell achieved his dream of getting a signature from Lewis Hamilton and later with all his hard work and racing skills became his teammate.

Russell and Lewis joined as teammates in the 2022 season after Valtteri Bottas left the Mercedes team. For three years both the drivers enjoyed their time being teammates and had many memories within the team. It all ends in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as Lewis will move to Ferrari from next year and Kimi Antonelli will become George’s new teammate. Fans are also celebrating Lewis Hamilton's achievements with the Mercedes team. The two drivers appeared in front of the fans during the Abu Dhabi GP weekend.

Russell time travels to 2007

George was shown a picture of him standing and watching Lewis Hamilton as a boy. Russell remembers the moment and also brought the same book that he got signed by Lewis. Fans wanted the moment to happen again and George Russell made time travel by getting Lewis Hamilton’s sign in the same book after more than a decade. 

The British driver once chased Lewis Hamilton for a photograph and signature. But now got the same signature as a teammate without chasing and chaos. This is called a real achievement in life. The moment was very lovely between the two, and the fans enjoyed it. George and Lewis will look to end their partnership on a high by aiming for a 1 and 2 finish in the Abu Dhabi GP.
