Ducati rider and six-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez has beaten the record that he set 11 years ago at the 2025 Argentinean Grand Prix. The MotoGP legend is now driving for the Ducati Factory racing team and is the favourite for this year's title. Day 1 of the race weekend started with the practice session. Marc Marqez carried the same pace and form that he left in Thailand and broke an 11-year-old record for the fastest lap in the circuit. In 2014, while he was riding for Honda, he set the fastest lap time record of 1.37.683, which was the record.

After 11 years, he broke his record by setting the fastest lap time of 1.37.295s. Marquez again proved that he is still the best in business as his teammate Pecco Bagnaia moved to P10. Nobody thought Marc Marquez would still be that good against many of his junior riders.

He is the only old rider racing for a decade as his biggest rivals Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa all retired from the sport. Valentino Rossi even started his own team in MotoGP, Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. The VR46 team rider Fabio Di Giannantonio came in second fastest ahead of Alex Marquez.

The front row is locked up with all Ducati bikes, and Aprilia racing rider Marco Bezzecchi managed to get P4, and Red Bull KTM rider Brad Binder was fifth fastest. The other five riders are Alex Rins from the Yamaha team, Zarco from Honda, Quartararo from Yamaha, Pedro Acosta from KTM and Francesco Bagnaia from Ducati.
Next will be FP2, followed by qualifying, and the Sprint race. The main race will be on Sunday. Marc Marquez is the championship leader who leads the table against his brother Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing team) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducato Factory Racing team). If he wins the title this year, it will be his seventh MotoGP world championship.
