The 2025 MotoGP season has already started, and the first race in Thailand was a sensational win for Ducati and Marc Marquez. All three podium winners are Ducati bike riders, and once again, they proved their dominance in the Pinnacle of bike racing. Other teams like Aprilia, KTM, Yamah and Honda faced defeat as their bikes were nowhere near Ducati’s. Honda and Yamaha especially had a disastrous race in the Buriram circuit. Honda rider Joan Mir had a technical issue and retired after completing 14 laps.

Yamaha rider Alex Rins completed the race in 17th place behind his teammate Fabio Quartararo, who finished in 15th. The top 10 positions were taken by Ducati, KTM and Aprilia riders while the traditional Japanese brands like Honda and Yamaha missed out. Mir was promising during the race as he climbed up and was behind Jack Miller at seventh. But suddenly, he retired on lap 14 as his bike was overheating. He couldn't sit upright because his thighs were burning due to the high heat from the engine and exhaust.

'Never burning like this'- Joan Mir

Mir said, “We were having some problems with the heat of the bike. We tried to make something at the last moment yesterday to try to improve it, and honestly, I was burning myself. I think it was the worst I had on a motorbike. I was never burning like this.” Alex Rins, the Yamaha rider, also faced heating issues with his bike. He even posted a picture on his social media where his thighs had burning marks. Usually, Thailand is a very hot place as the country is located near the equator.

During the race, the track temperature was more than 50 degrees. This extreme heat affected many drivers, including Ducati rider Fabio Gianantonio, who suffered burns on his hands, legs and neck during the Sprint race, which made him retire. Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez lead the driver's points table ahead of Francesco Bagnaia. We still don't know when the world champion Jorge Martin will return to MotoGP racing as he is now under treatment after suffering hand and leg injuries during practice before the season started.
