The Australian curse struck again yesterday as it didn’t allow the Australian drivers to shine in their home grand prix. We should wait another year to see an Australian driver winning their home grand prix. It’s been 25 years since an Australian has won in their home circuit. This year McLaren driver Oscar Piastri came very close to breaking that curse but was again pushed into the gravel and then to the grass where he was stuck for a few minutes and lost his P2 position.
He tried very hard to move forward but his car didn't move an inch towards the front. But after that, he remembered one off-roading lesson that he learned from Automobile journalist and legend Jeremy Clarkson while in England.

Oscar learned how to reverse off-road using a tractor. He did the same at his home grand prix where he reversed to the edge of the road and rescued his car by himself without any help from the stewards. He showed the Aussie grit in front of his home fans and the Aussie crowd roared for him.

He finished in P9 which was not the result he expected. But as everyone thought it was race over for Oscar he showed the Aussie fire inside him and finished inside the points table. Jeremy a huge Formula 1 fan quickly posted a picture of him and Oscar which was taken back in England.

There he wrote “Training @oscarpiastri to drive in reverse while off road. Who knew that would come in handy?.” Oscar Piastri replied by saying “Did marginally better yesterday” Which proves Oscar learned his lessons from Clarkson and clearly implemented that in his racing.
Even Oscar’s F1 team McLaren posted in the comment section “If McLaren wins the championship by 2 points it’s because of you Jeremy“ Though Oscar missed the podium finish, his teammate Lando Norris won the Australian Grand Prix keeping reigning world champion Max Verstappen behind him.
He is now the championship leader and we will head to the F1 Chinese Grand Prix this week. McLaren is now the strongest team on the grid as they have the fastest car. Let us see if Oscar Piastri can match the points he lost in Australia by winning the Shanghai GP.
