The 2025 Australian Grand Prix was a disaster for many, especially the incoming rookie drivers. The Albert Park street track is already tough as it has many unusual corners, and the heavy rain made it worse for them. Many drivers like Isack Hadjar, Jack Doohan, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, Gabriel Bortoleto and Liam Lawson saw their dreams shattered by the middle of the race. Let us watch the crashes that happened during the race one by one.

The VCARB driver was impressive throughout the race weekend, but on the formation lap, he slipped through the corners, breaking his rear wing, which is game over. Isack Hadjar was heartbroken and cried while walking to the garage.

Hamilton’s father, Anthony, ran towards the Frenchman and comforted him, which was wonderful. Just before the race, Lewis Hamilton had a special message for all the rookies and wished them to perform well.

After Hadjar, another rookie’s debut F1 race ended in disaster. This time it was the home driver, Jack Doohan of the Alpine. He slipped while driving on the white lines, and his car turned sideways into walls, damaging his rear wings.

Within minutes after Doohan’s accident, Williams driver Carlos Sainz crashed his car after he failed to control himself while entering the corner. Like the previous two crashes, the Spaniard’s rear-wheel torque in the wet conditions was too much to handle, and he crashed out of the race.

Aston Martin’s senior F1 driver, Fernando Alonso, had a similar incident while exiting the corners, and the kerbs were slippery, which spun him into the walls and damaged his front suspension and wings. This was a race to forget for Alonso, but his teammate Lance Stroll was impressive in the rain and finished inside the points table.

The 2024 F2 champion was running great and was within touching distance. But his front gave up while cutting through the corners, damaging his car heavily. He is the third rookie to have a crash this weekend, after Hadjar and Doohan.

The Kiwi’s Red Bull debut went from bad to worse as he faced the same rear issue as Hadjar, Doohan and Sainz. He struggled with pace and balance all weekend. His Australian Grand Prix ended in a disaster and was not what Lawson would have expected after coming to Red Bull. This week is a forgetful weekend for Liam Lawson, as he needs to focus on China to get back on track.
