George Russell, a Mercedes driver, crashed a Mercedes road car into a snow drift in Sweden and posted pictures of the incident. The three-time Grand Prix winner posted on social media that he "couldn't wait until next month to get behind the wheel again" after he had struck a snow bank while operating a V8 bi-turbo Mercedes car on frozen lakes.
George Russell was lucky to escape a major encounter that could have a serious injury before the season started. The video that Russell made public shows that he drove on the icy lake at 200 km/h. "I couldn't wait until next month to get behind the wheel again." "This place never ceases to amaze me! Always incredible driving on the frozen lakes of Sweden," Russell made a joke while displaying a photo of a Mercedes stuck in the snow.

Pre-season testing for the new Mercedes W16 F1 car is scheduled to start in Bahrain from February 26 to 28. After the car is introduced, Mercedes is likely to utilise a day of authorised filming as a shakedown, but the British driver will be back behind the wheel in February. Mercedes is a very different team now that Lewis Hamilton, the most successful driver in Formula One history, has left for Ferrari.
George Russell will have a pivotal role for Mercedes
Russell outperformed his legendary teammate Lewis Hamilton in the drivers' championship, finishing sixth, one position ahead of Hamilton. However, Russell will take over as Mercedes' senior driver this year while Hamilton is away. Instead, rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli will put him to the test. Toto Wolff has highly praised Antonelli, but it is unclear how that will translate into actual F1 performance.
Nico Rosberg, a former Formula One world champion, believes that George Russell will have a pivotal year in 2025 since team principal Toto Wolff's desire to sign Max Verstappen hasn't entirely diminished. The 2025 season marks the end of George Russell's contract with Mercedes; however, many anticipate that he will sign an extension for a few more years.
