The old-school track of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which has narrow and aggressive corners, once again proved that only the best drivers can survive. Tragedy struck again, this time for Franco Colapinto, who crashed out of the session. The Alpine driver was under pressure to prove himself and was carried away by that.
We hoped Yuki Tsunoda’s crash to be the last, but the most demanding circuit is slowly adding pressure. With tight turns and kerbs, drivers must be 100% accurate with their turns and braking. Unfortunately for Franco Colapinto, who drives an F1 car, after a long time, it ended in a tragedy.

The Argentine driver is now out of Q1. Like Red Bull, the Alpine F1 team will have a long night today to get the car repaired for the main race. Colapinto returned to Formula 1 with a lot of hopes, but everything ended for him in one session. Colapinto is a good driver, but at times he pushes the car too much and ends up in a crash. Even last year, he was too aggressive in corners and that has led him to multiple crashes. At one stage, Williams' garage fell short of spares to repair their damaged car.
Even in this crash, he is approaching the chicane too aggressively, as the Alpine car didn't keep up with him. It slipped on the rear and he collided with the barriers, bringing a large amount of debris onto the track. Alpine F1 advisor Flavio Briatore was left in shock as his replacement driver crashed in qualifying. This was the same chicane that has a big history of many crashes. Poor Franco needs to get his mindset right and perform well in the main race, as he will start from behind.
This is the second crash of the day, as Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda had a massive crash during his warmup lap. His car brushed the kerbs, and the dune outside the track threw the car onto the fence, and he rolled over. The Imola once again proves to be a dangerous ground for F1 drivers.
