Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton has joined the oldest F1 team on the grid, Ferrari, for the first time. The Italian team is one of the most iconic brands in the world with a rich history in motorsport racing. The news of the 7-time world champion joining them created a huge buzz and became sensational overnight. The Tifosi rejoiced as the F1 legend will be their new driver from the 2025 season. Ferrari is like a religion for fans in Italy, as they see the team as their national pride.
The Maranello-based team is the pinnacle of Italian cars and engineering. They are F1’s most successful team, with the highest number of drivers and constructors championships. But in the last two decades, they haven't won any championships in Formula 1. Ferrari’s last F1 title came in 2008, when Felipe Massa finished second behind Lewis Hamilton in the driver's title, even though Ferrari won the constructors. They have been continuously beaten by Red Bull and Mercedes all these years.
They even tried to bring many great drivers like Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. But none of them could win the title, and Ferrari has now brought the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton into the team. The man is responsible for many of their defeats; Hamilton won most of his world titles by beating Ferrari driven by Sebastian Vettel.
He will now drive a Ferrari car from the 2025 F1 season. As a Ferrari driver, he has to learn Italian to communicate with his team and crew in the garage. The British driver doesn’t know any language other than his mother tongue, English. But as soon as he signed for Ferrari, Hamilton started learning Italian and is improving.

A video was taken during Hamilton’s first day at Ferrari HQ in Maranello. Hamilton was accompanied by his teammate Charles Leclerc and team principal Fred Vasseur. Lewis starts by greeting the fans with Italian. He says, “I’m happy to start this new adventure with you at Ferrari. It has always been my dream to be part of this team. I can’t wait to work with you. Thank you.” The fans and factory workers who were present couldn't believe Hamilton was speaking Italian and they all cheered the legend. Lewis joined Ferrari to win his eighth world championship and if he wins the title for Ferrari, it will be their first in nearly two decades.
