The opening practice session of the Belgian Grand Prix 2024 at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps track brought early drama as Daniel Ricciardo experienced a hair-raising moment at Turn 1. The picturesque 7km circuit, known for its challenging layout and beautiful scenery, proved to be a formidable opponent right from the start.

As the session got underway, Mercedes showcased a few upgrades to their car, while Red Bull made the surprising decision to abandon their Budapest upgrades. Amidst these strategic moves, Ricciardo’s spin became the focal point of early practice drama.

Here is the video:

Ricciardo, driving for VCARB, lost control of his car at Turn 1, La Source. The Australian driver touched a wet kerb, causing his car to spin on the exit of the corner. Despite the spin, Ricciardo managed to avoid what could have been a much more serious incident. His quick reactions and a bit of luck prevented the car from clattering heavily into the barrier.

The spin, although alarming, saw Daniel Ricciardo quickly regrouping. Demonstrating his skill and composure, he managed to spin the car back around and return to the track without any apparent damage. This incident, while a close call, did not result in any significant setback for Ricciardo, allowing him to continue with the practice session.
