The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was special for Lewis Hamilton as he raced for the Mercedes AMG F1 team one final time. Next year, he will move to Ferrari, join Charles Leclerc, and fight for the championship. But at what cost? The Maranello team has to leave their performing driver Carlos Sainz to accompany the 7 time world champion.
It was difficult for the team to separate from the Spanish driver as he performed consistently for the team. If not for Lewis he would have been retained by the team for a few more years. The ferrari team gave him one emotional farewell before he joined the Williams Racing. He was shown special video footage of all his memories with the Ferrari team.

The Smooth operator smiled even though it was his final race for the team. After seeing the video he became emotional and started to tear up. Even his father the senior Sainz was all in tears after seeing the footage of his son's achievements with the Maranello squad.

After the video footage, Carlos gave one final message to the Ferrari crew. He said “You have now seen me emotional, with that I think it's the perfect way to close this chapter. Thank you Fred and thank you to all the team.” Sainz was given a special T-shirt that included all his race wins and Podiums for the Ferrari team and we wore it all day during his farewell. He also had dinner with his teammate Charles Leclerc and his family members.
Next year will be very tough for Carlos as he is moving to a mid-field team from a top team. But with his experience and talent, he could pull off something big for the Williams squad and give them points consistently like in Ferrari. Charles had some feud with sainz this year over obeying team orders. And next year will be even tougher as Lewis Hamilton is coming to his team. It will be the most challenging season for the Monegasque driver and dominating Lewis will be hard.
