In an electrifying session at the Circuit of the Americas, Alex Albon narrowly escaped a potential disaster during the sprint qualifying for the United States Grand Prix. As the weekend unfolded with high expectations following Ferrari's dominant practice results, the pressure was palpable among the drivers.

The weekend kicked off with Ferrari emerging as the favourites after Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc secured a one-two finish in practice, setting the stage for a competitive sprint format. Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, appeared comfortable behind the Ferrari duo, while McLaren struggled to replicate its previous dominance.

Here is the video:

During the first qualifying session (SQ1), the tension reached a peak when Albon, pushing the limits of his Williams car, experienced a dramatic spin on the exit of the penultimate corner. "The drivers are pushing so hard!" the commentators exclaimed as Albon lost control, seemingly destined for disaster. However, the skilled driver managed to regain control just in time, avoiding a collision that could have ended his qualifying run prematurely.

Oscar Piastri was eliminated shockingly!

Despite his impressive save, Albon ultimately faced elimination, finishing in 18th position. His unfortunate fate mirrored that of fellow competitor Oscar Piastri, who also found himself out of contention after his fastest lap was disqualified due to exceeding track limits, leaving him in 16th place.

Alongside them, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, and Zhou Guanyu also failed to progress, highlighting the fierce competition of the session. While Albon's near-miss added a layer of excitement to the qualifying event, it also underscored the high stakes drivers face as they navigate the delicate balance between speed and control.
