During the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, a lighthearted moment captured by a fan has taken social media by storm. The video, which quickly went viral, shows a Formula 1 marshal playfully using the safety cranes positioned around the track as swings. This amusing footage was recorded during a lull in the action, and the sight of the marshal’s playful antics delighted fans who found it both entertaining and endearing.

Here is the video:

The video emerged amidst a tense backdrop at Zandvoort, where the weekend’s events were marked by dramatic incidents on track. Notably, Logan Sargeant's dramatic crash in Free Practice 3 on Friday drew significant attention.

Sargeant’s Williams FW46 was involved in a severe accident at Turn 4, leading to a red flag being waved as the American driver’s car collided with the barriers and subsequently caught fire. Fortunately, Sargeant was unharmed in the accident, and his quick exit from the vehicle was crucial as the flames engulfed the rear of the car.

A poor weekend for Logan Sargeant!

Logan Sargeant’s crash came at a difficult time for him as news broke that he would be replaced by Carlos Sainz at Williams for the 2025 season. The crash occurred under challenging damp conditions, resulting in a significant setback for the team, which had equipped the car with several new upgrades for the weekend.

Amidst the chaos of Sargeant’s accident, the swift and effective response from the marshals was a highlight, as their professionalism ensured the safety of the driver. The viral video of the marshals using the safety cranes as swings provided a moment of levity and showcased their good-natured spirit.

Fans quickly rallied to share and celebrate this amusing side of the motorsport weekend, contrasting sharply with the more serious events on track. Notably, McLaren driver Lando Norris won the Dutch GP by defeating home favourite Max Verstappen by 22.9 seconds. Now, the paddock will move to Monza for Ferrari’s home race with championship standings heating up.
