The Italian Grand Prix, one of the most iconic races in the history of Formula 1, is set to take place on September 1, 2024, at the legendary Monza circuit. Known as the "Temple of Speed," Monza has been a staple on the F1 calendar since the sport's inception in 1950, with only one exception in 1980 when the race was held at Imola.

2023 Italian Grand Prix Recap

Last year’s race was another thrilling chapter in Monza’s history. Max Verstappen, who started in second position, had a strong start but had to fight hard to overtake pole-sitter Carlos Sainz, who led the race until lap 15. Despite Sainz's impressive defence, Verstappen eventually took the lead and secured the victory.

Some records to keep in mind

The Italian Grand Prix is also one of the most prestigious races in Formula 1, with a rich history of memorable moments and legendary winners. Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton are tied as the most successful drivers at Monza, each with five victories. 

Following closely behind is Nelson Piquet, while seven other drivers have won the race three times. Ferrari, the beloved Italian team, holds the record for the most wins at this circuit with 20 victories, followed by McLaren with 11 and Mercedes with nine.
