Amid the ongoing rumours around Williams Racing's prospects for a second seat alongside Alex Albon. The team signed a long-term deal earlier this month with Albon and secured his place in the squad. However, the team is looking to replace struggling driver Logan Sargeant

Now, ahead of the qualifying session at the Imola media platform, Autosport revealed a meeting between Valtteri Bottas and Williams chief James Vowels. This news soon leapt at social media platforms as fans and experts anticipated a deal between Bottas and Williams for a seat.

It’s worth noting that Vowles and Bottas share a lengthy history dating back to their time at Mercedes, where they famously contributed to one of F1's most iconic memes in 2018. The memorable radio message, "Valtteri, it's James, uttered during the German Grand Prix aimed to prevent the Finnish driver from challenging his then-teammate Lewis Hamilton. This moment attained legendary status among fans.

Why is Valtteri Bottas looking for a change?

Notably, Williams is considering enhancing its driver lineup, following the confirmation of a long-term contract with Alex Albon. Recent sightings show the Sauber driver engaged in discussions with Williams, hinting at potential moves.

Sauber, backed by their title sponsor Stake, seeks to revamp their driver roster, currently featuring Bottas alongside Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu. While Nico Hulkenberg's presence for the next season is confirmed, his specific seat remains unannounced. Furthermore, Audi's impending takeover of the team adds complexity, as they pursue a contract with current Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, set to lose his seat at season's end.

It's no surprise that both Bottas and Zhou are eyeing alternative seats for the 2025 season. Considering Bottas's prior rapport with his former strategy chief at Williams, a move to the team could be his best chance for a fresh start.
