In a surprising turn of events, McLaren driver Lando Norris won the 57-lap-long Miami Grand Prix. With this victory, Norris registered his first-ever GP victory while this is the first loss for Max Verstappen at Miami. Norris outplayed Verstappen by seconds while Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz clinched the third and fourth positions respectively.
A crash between Logan Sargeant and Kevin Magnussen caused a safety car to be deployed, disrupting Max Verstappen's race. The collision between the Williams and Haas drivers occurred on Lap 29, leading to Sargeant retiring and Magnussen receiving a 10-second penalty. This incident allowed Lando Norris to capitalize on the situation.

Verstappen had just pitted before the safety car, but Norris managed a pit stop without losing his lead. After the restart, Verstappen struggled to catch up with Norris, giving the Brit a strong chance for his first Grand Prix victory. The crash ultimately benefited Norris, positioning him well for success in the race.
