Ducati is the number 1 manufacturer in the  MotoGP as every other manufacturer like KTM, Aprilia, Honda, and Yamaha can't even match their pace and lap numbers. Marc Marquez who moved from Honda to Ducati after a decade-long battle with the Italians will next year join the Factory team.

He will be replacing Ducati rider Enea Bastianini and will be joining as the new teammate of Francesco Bagnaia. Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin are the contenders for the second seat at the Ducati Factory team and Ducati chose Marc Marquez as their new rider. The Ducati seat was given to Marquez not because he is the 6-time world champion or he is a popular figure in the world. To be honest Marc Marquez earned his seat at Ducati with his riding skills and scoring points.

Podiums with underpowered bikes

The GP 2022 and 2023 bikes performance is almost similar and there is only a little difference. But the GP 2024 bike is very far superior to the GP 23 bike which Marquez uses currently at the Gresini Racing team. Even though Marquez didn't win any races he is consistently bringing the inferiorly powered bike to the podiums.

Out of the four riders competing this year with the GP 23 engine, only Marc Marquez is able to get podiums very consistently.  Ducati engineers achieved a giant leap from their GP 23 engines to GP 24 to make it faster than its predecessor, but it didn't stop Marquez from achieving podiums.

In 2023, riders who used the GP 22 engines achieved 30.2% of podiums. But in the 2024 season, riders using GP 23 engines which are 1 year old achieved only 13.3% of podiums. There are a total of 48 podiums achieved by Ducati this year and only 10 podiums were achieved by GP23 engines. In that 8 Podiums were achieved by Marc Marquez.

The Ducati Factory team was very impressed by the Spaniard in achieving podiums with inferior engines and he was immediately signed by the team. Marc Marquez after signing for the factory team said “The Ducati engineers saw my progression with the 2023 bike; that outweighed the rest.”
