The fourth round of the ongoing season of MotoGP 2024 will take place in Spain. The Spanish GP will take place from 26-28 April and marks the first European race of the year. This will also be the first home GP for Jorge Martin who is currently leading the drivers’ championship.

Despite finishing third and fourth finishes in America MotoGP kept him 21 points ahead in the standings. Aprilia's Maverick Vinales will also aim to build on his recent victory at the American GP, marking his first Grand Prix win in three years. Unlike last year, where not every full-time rider started all races at this point in the season, this year sees all riders having taken the start in every race so far.

Are there any new riders in Spain?

For the 2024 Spanish GP, the grid has expanded from its usual 22 riders to 25, thanks to the inclusion of three wildcard entries. KTM announced during the Americas GP weekend that Dani Pedrosa, a 31-time MotoGP race winner and their test rider, would be returning to grand prix racing at the Spanish GP.

Pedrosa retired from full-time competition at the end of 2018 but participated in two wildcard races last year for KTM – at Jerez and later in the year at Misano. At the Spanish GP, Pedrosa delighted the home crowd by finishing sixth in the sprint and seventh in the grand prix.

During the Spanish GP, Honda's test team will participate with rider Stefan Bradl, and Aprilia will introduce a fifth RS-GP for its test rider Lorenzo Savadori. This coincides with a significant one-day test for the MotoGP field on the Monday after the Jerez round, where all three will be present.
