This weekend's Spanish Grand Prix will see rising star Oliver Bearman again taking the wheel for Haas during the first practice session. The 19-year-old Briton, is currently competing in Formula 2, is making waves as one of the most promising young talents in motorsport.

Bearman’s journey to this point has been impressive. Backed by Ferrari, he has showcased his potential through various standout performances in junior categories. As a former Italian and ADAC F4 champion and a third-place finisher in Formula 3, Bearman’s talent is undeniable.

Notably, this F2 season so far has been challenging, leaving him 13th in the standings after five rounds, but his performances in F1 machinery have been noteworthy. Earlier this year, Bearman made a significant impression when he stood in for an unwell Carlos Sainz during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, underscoring his capability and readiness to step up when needed.

He has also participated in FP1 sessions for Haas at the Mexican and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix in 2023, and recently tested the VF-24 during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, where he placed 15th on the timesheets.

Haas is yet to decide 2025 line-up

Haas team boss Ayao Komatsu has expressed confidence in Bearman’s potential, stating, “Of course we are evaluating him. If he is not [under] consideration, we wouldn’t be running him in FP1, and the next time he’s going to be in the car is in Barcelona.”

Bearman will replace Nico Hulkenberg for the opening 60-minute session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. This opportunity marks another crucial step in his development and could pave the way for a full-time F1 seat shortly.

With Haas yet to confirm their driver lineup for next season, Bearman’s performances in these practice sessions will be closely watched. As Bearman continues to accumulate valuable experiences and showcase his skills, the motorsport world will be watching closely to see if he can translate these opportunities into a permanent role on the F1 grid.
