Following a challenging Monaco Grand Prix, Alpine and Esteban Ocon have announced their decision to part ways after a five-year collaboration. Ocon's tenure with the French team has seen notable highs, including three podium finishes and a victory.

However, the recent seasons have been tough, with Alpine struggling to secure substantial points in the Constructor Standings. The 2024 season has been particularly difficult for Alpine, amassing only five points in the first nine rounds. Ocon's departure is now confirmed and intensified speculations regarding his future in Formula 1.

Reflecting on his future, Ocon remains realistic yet optimistic. "You never know in Formula 1 what the future can lie," he remarked in a media interaction. "But as I said, I’m excited for future challenges. I’ve got 15 more races to do and it’s important to do a good job and come to the races motivated as I’ve always been and enjoy what I do”, Ocon added.

"For sure, my target is to be in Formula 1, that is very clear. That’s where I enjoy to be. As early as you can, and it’s always better, to know your future. So, we’re going to see what the future is. I have nothing to announce yet. I will announce my future in due time when the right time comes," he concluded.

What are the options for Esteban Ocon?

One prominent rumour links Esteban Ocon to Mercedes, especially after the news of Lewis Hamilton moving to Ferrari next season. Toto Wolff could potentially facilitate this move, positioning Ocon as a strong candidate for the Mercedes seat. However, Ocon receives huge competition from Kimi Antonelli for this seat.

Another potential destination for Ocon is Haas. Nico Hulkenberg's confirmed move to Sauber has opened up a seat, and Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu has expressed interest in pairing a rookie with an experienced driver.

Komatsu had told Sky Sports, "He’s got a lot of experience. He’s a race winner, he’s got podium finishes and he’s scored many points. He’s also worked with a few different teams so he’s got lots of experience, which is what we’re looking for but also he’s only 27, still very young. I think his commitment and work ethic is good. One of the several I’m considering seriously.”
