Red Bull team is yet to officially announce Sergio Perez’s future with the team after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Unofficial sources confirm that Red Bull has already decided to move on from Perez for the 2025 season. It will be officially announced after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Perez could be asked to take media duties for the Red Bull brand like Daniel Ricciardo or demoted to the RB Bulls team next year. The team boss Christian Horner was asked to comment on Sergio Perez’s slump in performance.

'Good to leave yourself' - Horner

He said, “I’m going to let Checo (Perez) come to his own conclusions; nobody’s forcing him one way or another. It’s not a nice situation for him to obviously be in.” It will be decided the next day of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Dec 9, 2024. Perez has already signed a contract extension with the brand and because of that, he cannot be sacked right away. But he can be transferred to Media duties like ambassadorial role within the company which David Coulthard does now.

Daniel Ricciardo had a similar option when he was sacked from the VCARB team but he didn't use it. Liam Lawson replaced Daniel Ricciardo in the RB team and he is doing well considering his given chances. Red Bull also showed some interest in Franco Colapinto from Williams Racing. But starting from the Brazilian Grand prix Colapinto crashed his car many times and cost his team a few million dollars for repair. This made Red Bull back out a little bit of exploring that option further.

They have two junior drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson. Formula 2 driver Isack Hadjar was also a championship contender against Bortoleto and he will most likely join the RB Bulls team next year. But who is going to replace Sergio Perez in Red Bull? It could be Yuki Tsunoda or Liam Lawson. If they consider results and experience Red Bull could choose Yuki Tsunoda as the potential Replacement for Checo. If they see aggression and hunger as the best quality then Liam Lawson will be the replacement driver.

Red Bull lost their constructors championship to Ferrari and McLaren because of Sergio Perez’s poor form. He failed to finish above 6th in Qatar Grand prix though he had the best chance after the restart. The Mexican driver is 227 points behind Max Verstappen which is too much for a teammate to be behind in Formula 1.
