Four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has now officially confirmed that his fellow German Mick Schumacher is in talks with the Cadillac F1 team for the 2026 driver seat. The seven-time world champion's son has been off the F1 grid since the 2022 season. The teams lost hope in him after a series of costly crashes when he was driving for the Haas F1 team.

Many former F1 legends want the F1 owners to give one last chance, but the teams remain silent. Even this year, he was rumoured to be the Sauber driver alongside Nico Hülkenberg, but the future Audi team signed Bortoleto over him. Mick Schumacher is now racing WEC cars for the Alpine team and is desperate to procure an F1 seat for next year.

The only options available for him are Audi F1 and Cadillac F1, which are new to Formula 1. He can also aim for Alpine, but we don't think his future belongs in the French team. F1 legend Sebastian Vettel feels the 26-year-old driver needs another chance in life.

Sebastian Vettel confirms Mick's link with Cadillac F1

Speaking for an interview, Sebastian Vettel said, “He is much more mature. And I think he is doing a very good job at Alpine in the World Endurance Championship. It would be nice if he got a second chance at Cadillac.” Sergio Perez is already linked with the American F1 team, and the Mexican getting a chance in the American team will open a new way. His experience with Red Bull Racing will help the newly arriving Cadillac F1 team to develop its car.

At the same time, they need some young blood who is the future for them. We already have Zhou Guanyu, Logan Sargeant, Jack Doohan, and Yuki Tsunoda, who will be ready to sign new contracts after this year. The driver market is tough but volatile, and let us see whether Mick Schumacher can crack the code and get into F1 and prove himself.
