Happy Birthday Yuki Tsunoda: Red Bull's angry young Jap turns 25

Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda has turned 25 today, and he already has 4+ years of experience in Formula 1. The angry young Japanese driver is one of the promising drivers on the grid, and that is why he was promoted to the senior team after the team's struggles grew. 

He is expected to be in the team at least for this 2025 season, and his performances will decide his future inside the Austrian team. But what's so special about Yuki Tsunoda that all other drivers like, eventhough he is known for his angry nature inside the car.

Family-Friendly guy

Yuki Tsunoda’s wild nature over the team radio is often misrepresented by the media and teams. But he is a family-friendly guy who likes to spend more time with friends and family. He is very close to every F1 driver on the grid. Even when he crashed with Pierre Gasly at the Saudi Arabian GP, the Frenchman wasn’t angry at the Japanese driver and surprisingly defended his friend.

Top Performer

If you consider Yuki Tsunoda’s record in the last 5 years, he is an exceptional performer. He came as a Honda driver but very soon earned his spot in the team with his race results and performances. When Red Bull promoted Liam Lawson over him, Tsunoda kept his cool and focused on delivering performance and earned the driver seat at Red Bull.

The new go-to guy

Yuki Tsunoda was frustrated with not getting promoted to the senior team. He was the best performer of Red Bull’s junior driver team. Red Bull tried many drivers like Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Perez and Liam Lawson. No one was capable of delivering the expected results for the team, and finally, they went to Tsunoda. The Japanese driver is showing great promise, and his pace was closer to Max Verstappen's. 

Where will he be in 2026?

As far as his future is concerned, it is the decision that is in the hands of the Red Bull Racing team.  Yuki was brought into F1 by Honda, Red Bull’s engine partner. But from next year, they are moving away from the energy drink manufacturer and joining Aston Martin. 

Ford will be the new engine partner for Red Bull, and they could bring one american F1 racer for the seat. So Yuki needs to do something extraordinary this season to secure a racing seat next year, either at Red Bull or teams like Alpine, Cadillac F1, Haas and Audi F1. But he could also join the Aston Martin F1 team as a reserve driver.
